topic narratives

The book “Persepolis” is so far about a ten-year-old girl by the name of “Marji” who lives in Iran during the Islamic Revolution in 1979. At this time Marji is very religious and thinks she’s the last prophet of God.  She claims she wants to be a prophet but yet she doesn’t want her parents to know about it, so every time they were to ask Marji what she wanted to be when she gets older she says a doctor. The only person at this time who knows about this is her grandmother.
After reading this chapter I find it interesting that a little girl at the age of 10 years of age would have her mind made up of wanting to be a prophet. I like that she very religious because I used to be the same way at that age but I never thought about being a prophet, then again my religion and beliefs is different than her. Also I didn’t understand why she couldn’t tell her mom and dad about her true future plans. A situation like this have me think if her parents is as religious as her or if they supportive of what she thinks or believe in to the point that will make her ultimately happy at the end of the day. I can relate to her a lot with being close with her grandma. I’m the same way. My grandmother is life outlet to life in so many different ways. I can tell her just about anything and feel comfortable with it because I know she will support me no matter what.

I am...

I am an African American male born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. I’m the oldest of 5 siblings. I have one brother and 4 sisters. I am 20 years of age with a lot of growing up to do. I was blessed to have both parents in my life to show me right from wrong and keep me on track as much as possible to be successful and better my future. I have a laid back/relax personality. I can be real goofy majority of the time when I’m hanging out with my friends and family. I am highly into music. My favorite types of music genre to listen to are Hip-Hop, Rap, R&B and Jazz. I listen to music daily it helps me get through the day when I am not playing basketball. My all type favorite music is Wale Folarin. His music has more of a poetry flow to it more than rap and rhymes. He has been a good insperation to me writing poetry.
I graduated from Spring Valley high school in 2010 where I played basketball for four seasons. I love to play the game of basketball any chance I get; it’s my true passion. I am now a college student athlete at Cabrillo College with goals of finishing college with a degree in psychology and hopefully go on to and continue to play basketball professionally in the NBA or over seas in another country. Basketball is not just a hobby to me it’s an outlet to life were I can be myself and express my feelings towards the game of basketball. After basketball the next thing I like to do is write poetry.
I am an inspiring poet who writes about my past, present and future. Sometimes I even write about old love experiences, like how my heart was broken or the moment and time of my relationship felt like a fairytale ending. My interest in poetry came when I graduated out of high school and I met someone who read some to me and immediately got my attention from the story behind it. That day I wanted to put my own story in some poetry, since then I been writing poetry.
I am a California residence and enjoyed the weather here. It’s amazing and always sunny. My favorite part about California is the beaches. Being able to go on the beach and relax in front of the ocean is so fun. If my hometown Vegas had a beach it would be just as nice as California if not better. I’ve been open to meeting a lot of Californian people. The ones I met so far been really nice and easy to converse with.
I am into the social networking. I have a Twitter and Instagram that I go on daily to talk and interact with my friends and family from back home I used to be against having social networks like twitter in high school until my friend taught me how to use it and soon became fun.
I am a typical young adult in today’s society. I play sports, listen to music, go to school and overall all likes to have fun with friends and family. But yet at the end of the day I am unique in my own way. I am, Robert Myles a 20 year old male from Las Vegas, NV.
