The book “Persepolis” was written by Marjane Satrapi. Marjane is also known for writing Persepolis 2.  I chose to analyze page 63 of this book because I see to understand how Marji felt after knowing the guy she was beginning to like very much was soon leaving her for good.
This text is intended for the readers to get visual in their minds to understanding how different the lifestyles and cultures varies in different country and that the simplest things that could be fix in today’s country can cause someone from another country like Iran to have to leave to better themselves.
This text says that Marji boy crush is moving to the United States because his parents says “Its impossible to live under the Islamic Regime.” It shows that the boy is very sad having to leave his friends behind as he move to the United States. The author supports this text by showing that the boy feels down talking to his friend and Marji. He doesn’t smile in the illustrations or show any signs that he is happy about the move to United States. So he has a month left in Iran until he leaves. The boy friend tries cheering him up by saying “ now you get to meet Bruce Lee.” Marji walks off saying “Bruce Lee is dead.” She extremely upset that the boy she liked is moving.
The purpose of this text is to acknowledge that marji had some kind of love life but was ended due to the boy having to leave to another country. Earlier in the book it showed that Marji helped the family house keeper write notes to a boy of a higher class than her because she understood the feelings the two had for each other but was ended due to her father having to tell the boy that she isn’t his daughter and her social class is lower than yours for anything to ever work. The author hope to accomplish showing the audience that Marji also had feelings for someone of her own.  The author moves her signals by incorporating the words that’s being used into pictures to show emotion of the characters.
The author adopt the point of view of trying to show positive side of the boy moving by mentioning that it would be a better opportunity for them as a family and that the little boy get a chance to meet Bruce Lee. I recognize a social influence of the little boy friend because by the illustrations of the little boy friend trying to say positive things that he thinks will cheer him up.
This text show some interesting features for example, it shows the ups and downs of having to move and how it can effect the people around you just as much how it can change your life as the person having to move. This text shows the features of young relationship between Marji and the boy that’s moving. The two really liked each other and it hurt Marji once he told her.
The style of this text is sad and depressing. Knowing that a person you like so much is leaving to a different country and you will never get to see him/her again can really make someone feel unwanted or miserable for extended period of time.
The tone of this text is serious mostly throughout the text with having to break the bad news to Marji and his guy friend, then shows a little humor with the boy friend tries to make the situation better with saying he can meet Bruce Lee.

Persepolis post #2

The ending of story “Persepolis” by Marjane Satrapi was very sad. Marjane gotten kicked out

of her school, forcing her aunt to somehow maneuver her through the system to get put into another

school. Its gets worst from there as she goes to the new school and her and the teacher as she told her

off about how the Islamic regime ordered her uncle to be killed. Marjane father found out from the

principle and smiled as he says she gets it from her uncle. Very soon Marjane parents would have to

make a big decision that will Affect Marjane life drastically. They decided to send her to Austria

where she can be happy but yet be far away than close and be miserable.
Marjane leaving would hurt everyone around her deeply. Her parents sending her off knowing that they would never be able to stay together again but then again would come visit her. Marjane grandmother would come by the day before she was leaving to give her advice on how to take care of herself. Her grandmother told her “if a jerk hurts you tell yourself that there are stupid because it will help her not to react in a cruel way. Nothing is worse than bitterness and vengeance. Always keep your head up and true to yourself.” These words from her grandma would stay with her forever. When she says her final goodbyes to her parents and she walks through checking she looks back at them one more time and her mom faints into her father hands. She knows leaving would be the best thing for her to better her life.

In my opinion this was a great book ended so sad. In my life experience the only thing that could

compare to this type of hurt would have to be when I first left for school. I left knowing I wouldn’t be

able to see my parents, grandparents, and my siblings for a very long time. Once I said my goodbyes

to my family and I began to walk through the airport I broke down. I cried all the way to the gate

because not knowing when the exact time and date that I’ll ever see them again was painful on the

inside. For the whole first 2 weeks I called my family everyday telling them how much I miss them

and I was ready to come home. Being homesick really sucked more and more each day until one day

I just got over it and focused on school knowing they would be ok. I can only imagine how hurt.

Marjane felt about leaving and nor being able to go back to them anytime soon. This book opened

my eyes a bit on other cultures and taught me I shouldn’t take my family for granted because its

other people that can’t see or speak to them anymore base of their lifestyle or family structure.

narrative respone #2

In The Article “The Great Escape” by Joshua Bearman Tony Mendez was head of Disguise and Authentication chief for his division for the CIA. Over time Mendez would to try to rescue the hostages from the Canadian Ambassador house. Soon after he came up with an idea that he felt best suited his skills as part of the CIA. His plan was to give the Americans who were held hostage at the Canadian Ambassador a false identity to walk out of the Mehrabad Airport. For his plan to work he would have to sneak in himself to organize and lead the escapes for his plan to be successful.
According to Joshuah Bearman “Mendez knew that rescuing the hostages alone couldn’t be done by using his real name, so he decided to give himself a false identity as “Kevin Costa Harkin,” an Irish film producer.” He would call his Hollywood friend by the name of John Chambers, a veteran make up artist who won an academy award for Planet Of the Apes in 1969. They would come up with a production company by the name of “Studio Six Productions.” The name comes from the six hostages they plan to rescue from the Canadian Ambassador.
According to Bearman “Their plan was to pretend that they were going into Iran to film a movie based off a previous script writing by Chambers long ago that evaporated due to funds.” The name of the script was “Tale of Hindu-inspired a mystical science fiction.” Mendez agreed and quickly changed the name of the script to “Argo.” Meaning a vessel used by Jason on his daring adventure across the world to retrieve the Golden Fleece. He was sent into Iran after getting a cable approval from president Carter to produce his film.
Mendez would fly into Europe where he obtained visa’s from the Iranian consultant and six passports that the Canadian government issued to him. He turned the six passports into “real fakes” which were genuine documents that were prepared by the Canadian government for the Hollywood aliases devised by the CIA. Canadians law prohibits any counter fit for these documents but country parliament held an emergency secret session to make an exception. This was the first since World War II. Mendez met up with the six hostages the day before at the ambassador’s place for dinner, where he explained to them that he had prepared to rescue them from Tehran. Soon after Mendez gave them the details about the escape plan and it took them four days to get ready for their escape.
While back at home at Studio Six Production studios they were getting busier by the day as the news for the movie film continue to get out. They had three lines two for business calls and one line was for if the plan was to fail or if the plan was a success. The hostages haven’t been in public for almost 80 days before they entered the airport. As they proceed through the airport some of the hostages began to get a bit worried as if the plan wasn’t going to work. Once the Iranian officer disappeared with the rest of the passports everyone kept their heads down as the airport began to fill up with people. Once they announced that their plane was ready for departure one of the hostages realized that the name of the plane was similar to the name of the plane in the cover story, as he sat down on the plane and asked Mendez “you guys planned everything didn’t you?” Mendez smiled as everyone order themselves a drink and he turned and looked back at the group and said “We’re home free.” a few hours later the production company third line rings and they get the good news that they made it out.
